Gonadorelin

aka GnRH · Gonadotropin-releasing hormone hydrochloride · LHRH

A synthetic GnRH analogue used to restore natural hormone production and support fertility in both men and women.

Overview

Gonadorelin is a synthetic version of the body's natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which acts as a master regulator for the reproductive system. By mimicking the signal the brain sends to the pituitary gland, it triggers the production and release of essential sex hormones—specifically Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This makes it a primary tool in clinical settings for diagnosing pituitary issues and treating various forms of infertility. In research and off-label contexts, it is frequently utilized by men on testosterone replacement therapy to prevent the "shutdown" of the body's natural hormone production. By providing an external GnRH signal, it helps maintain testicular size and function that might otherwise decrease during TRT. While highly effective in a clinical setting when administered via pulsatile pump, its very short half-life means that standard injections may be less effective than other alternatives like hCG for certain users.

Mechanism of action

Gonadorelin is a synthetic decapeptide analogue of natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It binds to receptors in the hypothalamus to activate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, triggering the anterior pituitary to secrete LH and FSH.
